Extended ACLs under GNU/Linux

Default GNU/Linux setup

A default UNIX OS has only 3 kinds of access lists (ACLs). See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File_system_permissions#Traditional_Unix_permissions

Short setup:

  1. Edit /etc/fstab and add acl option to a partition
  2. mount -v -o remount /path/to/partition/
  3. apt-get install acl

    , for the getfacl setfacl tools

  4. apt-get install eiciel
